Prophesy of The King: Jesus
The centerpiece of all the Old Testament prophecies concerning the coming King has to be Isaiah 9:6: “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us, and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace,” (NASB). Isaiah reveals four names of Jesus and each of the four names unlocks an aspect of His character.
1. Jesus is the __________________ Counselor.
2. Jesus is the ____________ God.
3. Jesus is the ______________________ Father.
4. Jesus is the ____________ of Peace.
The most important part of Isaiah 9:6 is the first phrase: “For a child will be born to us,” (NASB). The gift of Christ is a personal gift from God to us. A gift requires a response. In this one verse we have the four names of Jesus. If you are confused, He is the Wonderful Counselor. If you are weak, He is the Mighty God. If you are scared, He is the Eternal Father. If you are disturbed, He is the Prince of Peace.
